I was nominated by Jessica at Beauties and the Bibs to take part in the Mummy Tag.

Are you a working mum or a stay at home mum?

I’m still currently on Maternity leave however I have just handed in my notice so will be a stay at home mum as of the 28th October!! If I was to go back to work all my wages would be on childcare so I would much rather be with Lola and find something part time or working from home to go alongside blogging!

Would you have it any other way?

No not at all!

Do you co-sleep?

Yes! Before having Lola I always said we would never co-sleep. As I breastfeed it is a hundred times easier co-sleeping. Lola just stirs in the night and instantly feeds so we all get a much better nights sleep. Lola has recently started going in the cot from about 8/9pm until about 1am.

What is your must have item for your baby?

At the moment it’s her Hide and Seek Squeaky Eggs Toy. Lola was given then by her Great Auntie and she loves them! If we are out and about and Lola is getting grouchy then as soon as we get them she gets so excited! They keep her occupied for ages!

How many kids do you plan on having?

I want 4 Babs wants 3……. Who knows we shall see!

Date night how often do you have them?

We have never really had date nights. We would prefer to get a takeaway and watch a boxsets on Netflix.

Your child’s favourite show?

Bing! As soon as the music to Bing starts she gets so excited. Lola doesn’t really watch TV but it is usually on in the background. Her other favourite is watching sports with Daddy when they both cheer and shout at the TV!

Name one thing you bought before you had a baby and never ended up using?

We bought swaddle gro bags bit never used them as Lola didn’t really like being swaddled. An Electric Steriliser as well! We got it second hand so paid hardly anything thankfully! Lola only took expressed milk from a bottle a couple of times and we just used the microwave steriliser.

Your child’s favourite food?

Meat, meat and more meat!!! When Lola has food placed in front of her she will pull out all the meat and eat it first!!! I we’ve done baby led weaning with Lola and she loves things like beef and chicken! She loves Nigerian food even though it is so so spicy! She also loves juicy fruits like mango, plums and oranges.

How many cars does your family have?

We have two both Babs and I have a car each. We have only used one car for the past year though.

Weight gain, before pregnancy, during, after and now

I was really ill through my pregnancy with Lola. I had hyperemesis gravidarum I really struggled with eating so I lost a lot of weight. Then throughout the pregnancy I continued to loose weight. When I went into labour I was 5lb lighter than my booking in appointment when I was 7 weeks pregnant. Two weeks after giving birth I was 2 and a half stone lighter than my booking in appointment. However with breastfeeding your appetite is HUGE! And I don’t stop eating even with all the running round after Lola I’ve put that weight back on.

Dream holiday with your kids?

I think everybody will say Disney World in Florida without a doubt! Lola would love it with all the lights and being busy so she can be nosey! Babs and I have always said we would love to go to somewhere like Kenya and go on a safari. I think Lola would also love that seeing all the animals. We spend a lot of time at zoos and she loves all the animals!

Dream holiday without the kids?

Tunisia All inclusive holiday laying on the beach with cocktails and a book!!

How has your life changed since having kids?

In every way possible! I wouldn’t change it for the world though.

Finish this sentence ” my heart melts when..”

Lola laughs at her Daddy. Lola is such a Daddy’s girl without a doubt. If we are sat in the bedroom and she can hear him walking towards us she squeals with excitement. He will always pretend he’s going to catch her and she crawls away frantically looking back and laughing at him. I think out of everybody he definitely gets the most giggles out of Lola!

Where do you shop for your kids?

Anywhere that there are offers on! Kids grow out of clothes so ridiculously quickly especially in the first year. I love Sainsburys clothes they are such fantastic quality and frequently have 25% off.

Favourite makeup and skincare product?

I very rarely wear makeup! Skincare produce would be just a decent pack of facewipes. I would usually get Nivea.

Huggies or Pampers?

Neither! They don’t make Huggies nappies anymore here and I really don’t like their wipes. I bought some of their wipes before Lola was born and we don’t use them on Lola we use them for cleaning the high chair and the floor after eating. We do use Pampers as we were bought a lot of nappies at the beginning and they were all Pampers. Out of choice though I would use Aldi or Sainsburys now.

Have you always wanted kids?

Yes! Babs and I hadn’t been together very long when I fell pregnant with Lola but we both knew we wanted children and knew we wanted a family together.

Best part of being a mum?

Everything! It is so worth every moment!

I now nominate Sophie at Life as Mrs D to take part in the Mummy Tag!

  1. I am right there with you on co-sleeping! I breastfed all 3 of my kiddos (currently on #3) and it is so much easier to pop the little boogers into bed than to fuss around with a bottle. And, btw, it didn’t ruin any of kids, they all sleep very well and even put themselves to bed when they’re sleepy!

    1. Thank you! It really does make things so much easier!! If it means more sleep for us then it’s without a doubt a bonus!!!

  2. This is adorable really. Being a mom gives a great pleasure from what I have seen. All the best and congratulations 🙂
