*#AD This is a contributed post* Nobody will walk down the aisle on their wedding day with the idea that this marriage that they’re about to embark into will end. Nobody does. And yet 50% of marriages end in divorce. For some people, there are reasons that lead from abuse or from irreconcilable differences. For others, it’s all about the fact that they grow up and apart away from each other.

Some people just Daydream about what it would be like to live the single life and not have to worry about thinking about somebody else all the time. No matter what the reason is that you feel like it’s time to say goodbye to your marriage, you might need the help of a separation lawyer to help you work through it. Even people who have been married for 20 years sometimes wonder what life would be like without their spouse, but if you’re feeling serious about this then we’ve put together some of the biggest signs that you shouldn’t ignore that your marriage is on the out.

  • You tried counseling and it didn’t work. Most married couples turn to counseling when things start to grow apart and go wrong. If you are spending a lot of time in counseling but you’re still not getting along with each other, this is a problem. Counselors and therapists are there to bridge the gap between you, but if you feel like you’re trying to force a square peg into a round hole, then stopping professional counseling may be the best option for you. A lack of progress towards a mutual understanding is a sure sign that you are no longer aligned.
  • You never seem to resolve your fights. When you’re constantly fighting each other, the same issues will continue over and over again. You end up living in a state of limbo, and while this is fine if it’s temporary, because of course we all disagree on occasion in our relationships, it’s not easy to leave fights unresolved and it does breed resentment and tension. You want to have a good marriage, not one that’s going to cost you.
  • You don’t have intimacy anymore. That desire and attraction that you’ve always had for each other has gone. You’re no longer lovers or a married couple but roommates who simply tolerate each other rather than enjoy each other’s company. Nobody wants to feel isolated and disappointed in their spouse, but it can fuel detachment if you are no longer intimate.
  • Your head has been turned by somebody else. It’s unfortunate and it does happen, but it’s a good sign that you have checked out mentally from your marriage if somebody else is able to capture your attention and your affection. It’s not fair to either of you, including the other person involved, if you are looking at somebody else while you are married to another person. This is why you should get help.
